Peter was first elected as an Alderman and now Councillor to City of Darwin Council in 2017 and re-elected in 2021 he joined the LGANT Executive as the City of Darwin appointed representative in November 2018.
Peter has a Bachelor’s Degree in Aboriginal Community Management and Development from Curtin University WA. This degree is based on community development and policy. He has worked in NT Health for over 30 years (based in Darwin and Nhulunbuy) and across most Aboriginal Communities in the Top End. He has also worked in Community Development, Correctional Services and Juvenile Justice.
In the past 4 years Peter has represented the City of Darwin on the Tourism Top End Board of Management. He is a current member of the Development Consent Authority for Darwin. Peter is a registered Aboriginal Health Practitioner and was the Chair of the NT Aboriginal Health Worker (AHW) Registration Board and the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner (ATSIHP) Board of Australia for 16 years. He was also the Executive Director of Aboriginal Workforce and Cultural Engagement for Top End Health Services, as well as a Member of the LGANT RAP Committee and the Constitution Committee.
