LGANT Awards

Long Service Awards

In recognition of the long-term contributions of local authority members to the local government sector and its communities, LGANT is pleased to announce a long service award for local authority members.

 Current local authority members who have completed 10 or more years of continuous service within local government in the NT are eligible for nomination.

Councils can nominate those who have served 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30+ years for any NT local government body – Nomination Form

Please complete the attached nomination form and return it to info@lgant.asn.au

  • Nominations Close – Tuesday 18 October 2024.

Local Government Elected Member

The awards are open to current and former elected members who have completed 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30+ years of service. Service does not need to be continuous and includes elected members on community government councils prior to 2008.

Councils can nominate long serving elected members by submitting the Local Government Elected Member Long Service Award nomination form.

Local Government Officer

The awards are open to current council officers who have completed 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30+ years of continuous service within local government in the NT. Service is calculated from when NT councils amalgamated in 2008.

Councils can nominate long serving officers by submitting the Local Government Officer Long Service Award nomination form.

  • Nominations open – July
  • Nominations close – Tuesday, 01 October 20204
  • Award presentation to officers – date to be organised by the officer’s council for presentation during a council meeting.

Public Service Officer Award

LGANT has developed the Public Service Officer Award as a way to acknowledge those public sector employees from the NT and the Australian governments who have demonstrated a true partnership approach in working with councils, treat the local government sector with respect and go the extra mile in engaging with councils for the benefit of communities.

Nominations will be accepted from NT councils for NT or Commonwealth public servants who have worked with councils in the previous 12 months.

Councils can nominate a Public Service Officer by submitting the LGANT Public Service Officer Award nomination form

Circular Economy Award

LGANT has created this award to acknowledge the achievements of NT Local Government Councils that are working to minimise their impact on the environment.

You are invited to nominate if you have undertaken programs that inform the community and build the community’s capacity to recover resources or reuse/repurpose materials.

Councils can nominate their program by submitting the nomination form below.
